Your commitment
For eligible students (see below) the NowSkills IT Apprenticeship will be paid for, in full or part, by the UK government. However, we can only justify funding your course if we are convinced you are committed to seeing it through.

Yes, it’s only twelve months but it is an intensive, exciting twelve months of study and skills. In other words, it’s hard work and hard work takes dedication. If you are prepared to give just a year of your life to learning the skills of an IT professional then you should seriously consider the long term benefits of undertaking the NowSkills IT Apprenticeship.

While you are paid for the work you do it won’t match what your working friends might be getting paid, those who have decided to dismiss further education and go straight into a job.

If you can accept that, for a short time at least, your earnings won’t be in the same league as your friends’ but in the long run will far exceed them, the NowSkills IT Apprenticeship is your route to a highly paid professional career.

How much does it cost?
As a NowSkills IT Apprentice the biggest investment you will be asked to make is your time. Thanks to government funding most apprentices do not pay a penny to undertake their training. Apprentices are, however, expected to commit themselves to working and studying for a minimum of one year.

Am I eligible?

To qualify as an apprentice and be eligible for government funding you must:

fit the age criteria (see below);

  • work for a minimum of 12 months.
  • If you are aged 16-18 your IT Apprenticeship is fully funded by the Government
  • If you are 19-23 years old you will need to find an employer who is willing to pay the costs of the Apprenticeship
  • If you are 24 + years old you will be required to contribute towards the cost of the Apprenticeship yourself

Earn while you learn

For a head-start in one of the world’s most exciting and rapidly developing industries all you need to do is invest one year of your time. In return you can expect:

  • twelve months working in a real job for an employer in your area;
  • wages of between £100-200 per week*;
  • twelve weeks IT skills development in a local training centre;
  • all books and course materials provided.

Once you have completed your twelve month IT Apprenticeship you will be well-equipped to begin your career in IT. Not only will you have a recognised industry-level qualifications but you will also have valuable work experience in a real job.
