Earn while you learn:
Apprenticeship pay is often lower than a full time employee, because you’re working and learning at the same time.
However it’s worth remembering that your employer is taking a chance on you, investing in your future potential, not your current labour market value, and they’ve agreed to pay you whilst you to spend 20% of you time studying.
If you demand immediate success, validation and believe you’re entitled to top pay today, perhaps an apprenticeship and the hard work and commitment that comes with it, isn’t for you.
However, if you’re prepared to invest 15-18 months developing your skills, then an apprenticeship offers you the best chance of future success.
During your apprenticeship you’ll be learning technical knowledge and gaining skills, attitudes and behaviours to embark on a meaningful and rewarding career.
You’re also building your CV, your business contacts, your LinkedIn profile and your qualifications.
You’re learning how to interact in corporate business environments. You may be invited to assist with projects ahead of your years if you impress enough. You’ll be learning commercial professional attitudes and how to talk to decision-makers and because you’re working in the digital sector every day, opportunities are more likely to come your way.
The apprenticeship route you complete with NowSkills or the path your career takes will determine what your future wage could be, but let’s assume you’ve completed one of our apprenticeship standards, what could you be earning? You should check the latest salaries for yourself on job boards such as TotalJobs or Indeed.
