How do apprenticeships work?

  1. Identify a need for the apprenticeship Do you need a new apprentice to fill a skills gap, or can your current employees join an apprenticeship?

     

  2. Write a job description and identify a mentor. The job description must align with the apprenticeship standard, and the mentor should possess ample experience to support and provide feedback during monthly reviews.

     

  3. Check your employer account status. To use the government service, create a Digital Apprenticeship Service account. For information on how to set one up, please follow this link: Digital Apprenticeship Service.

     

  4. Identify & start your apprentice.  Whether you have an existing employee or require a new hire, NowSkills processes over 400 monthly applications. Our no-fee recruitment service assists with interviews, and eligibility checks, and ensures your apprentice’s success.

     

  5. Continual support and training. Apprentices dedicate a minimum of 20% to off the job training in NowSkills programs, balancing this requirement with effective day-to-day work execution.

     

  6. Success and completion. Throughout the apprenticeship, your apprentice undergoes classroom training (physical or virtual), monthly 1:1 tutor sessions, exam preparation, and concludes with the final End Point Assessment. NowSkills supports you and your apprentices at every step for a rewarding career start.

     

  7. After the apprenticeship. NowSkills’ employers retain 95% of digital apprentices for business benefits. Communication is key, as both employers and apprentices may have different plans. NowSkills provides ongoing career guidance during apprenticeships.
