What is the Data Technician Apprenticeship?

We are delighted to begin delivering the Data Technician apprenticeship later this year. Our commitment to success and our subject-specialist tutors will ensure apprentices are instilled with the skills, knowledge and attitudes to embark on a rewarding career.

The 24-month Data Technician apprenticeship will be perfect for people who enjoy collecting, understanding and analysing data. After successful completion of the Data Technician programme, the roles apprentices should expect to apply for include, Data Support Analyst, Data Technician, Junior Data Analyst and many others.

Roles and responsibilities of a Data Technician

As a Data Technician, apprentices should expect to collect, format and present data in a secure and relevant manner. They will use basic methods to analyse data and communicate outcomes to the appropriate audience. Apprentices, will be involved in blending data from a range of sources, whilst applying ethical principles. Data Technicians typically work as part of a team, therefore will need strong communication skills.

How is the course structured?

The Data Technician apprenticeship is structured in the same way as other Level 3 apprenticeships, which are delivered by NowSkills.

Training will take place in our classroom locations, online and face to face with our mentors. Your employer’s line manager will also support you and teach you skills.

As a NowSkills IT Apprentice, you will be assigned a supportive and well-experienced tutor who will provide tasks and targets to you to help you obtain the best possible grade.

Entry requirements to become a Data Technician apprentice

Individual employers will set the selection criteria. It is likely to include:

  • Grades A*-C  (9-4 equivalent) in English and mathematics
  • a science or technology qualification is desirable but not essential
  • or a relevant Level 2 Apprenticeship
  • a qualification or part-qualification in a related area at a lower or the same level would be advantageous, but not required

Having a passion for IT will help Data Technician apprentices gain the most out of their apprenticeship programme.
