Apprenticeships UK: Additional payments, and incentives for employers

Additional payments

This page covers apprenticeships UK additional payments. The main payments made to employers are known as Additional Payments. These are a payment of £1,000 made in 2 x £500 payments at the 3 months and 365-day milestones of the apprenticeship.

To be eligible, the apprentice must be 16, 17, or 18 at the date of enrolment (this may be after their employment start date) or aged between 19 and 24 years old and have either an Education, Health, and Care (EHC) plan provided by their local authority or has been in the care of their local authority.

How do I claim the additional payment?

Payment eligibility is calculated automatically by the ESFA and paid to NowSkills to be forwarded to the employer. Whilst the eligibility for the payment is made at 3 months and 365 days, it can take longer for the ESFA payment to reconcile and transfer the payment to the training provider and employers should anticipate a reasonable delay.

If you are expecting a payment to be made to you, please contact us for the latest information.
