Get to know me and my apprenticeship
Hi! My name is Fleur and I have only recently just left college and started my new role as a content creator apprentice here at NowSkills, I have already learnt so much in this role confirming my aspirations I previously had in digital marketing whilst in college. I feel it is important to share my new experience here as only just over two months ago I was in the middle of my A-levels and completely bewildered about what next steps I wanted to take.
I knew I wanted to do a digital marketing apprenticeship but wasn’t sure where to start or what course would be right for me. Soon later however I came across NowSkills quite easily with an even simpler applying process with a quick eligibility check on this website Eligibility check web – NowSkills IT Apprenticeships . My interview felt warm and welcoming rather than intimidating and just 24 hours later I was told I had successfully landed the job. NowSkills couldn’t have been more supportive and efficient from my application process to my first day of work highlighting their successful communication.

Now, finally to the fun bit, getting to tell you about an average day here in the lively office at NowSkills as a content creator apprentice…
09:00 – Arriving at the office after having beaten the usual morning chaotic traffic, I head up the stairs to greet everyone who has already arrived at work. Placing my bag down, getting my essentials out for the day on my desk such as my water bottle and notepad. I begin by checking any emails I may have received later after finishing the workday prior or earlier that morning.
09:15 – Starting my day, my line manager gives me a brief explanation of what I will be doing today before describing thoroughly in detail my first commission which I am always supported throughout with.
10:30 – Of course, it depends on the length of time that commission could take as I could be writing a blog, creating a social media post, uploading to the website, writing a newsletter etc but I usually finish what I have started the morning with around this time. This is before receiving my next responsibility of the day so I can continue to learn and earn.
12:00 – Keeping busy with each learnng task is a great part of this job as it increases how much I can learn and grow succeeding in my apprenticeship. Throughout the day it is also important I mention how I am able to get up from my desk and visit the kitchen to grab myself a drink or a snack. Usually, I am still completing my second activity at this point but if not my line manger always has something prepared for me I am able to get on with.
13:00 – After a busy morning of learning and creating, it’s time to head for lunch. Being in a town centre, there are many options for lunch or the kitchen in the office facilitating a microwave, kettle, fridge to be able to eat something brought from home.
14:00 – As lunch comes to an end, I head back to my desk for the afternoon whether that is starting a new commission or carrying on with the previous responsibility I had been working on before lunch. Either way I always have a fun opportunity to carry on learning. This could be creating a social media post or uploading something that I had already created.
15:30 – As having mentioned before, no day is ever the same with no task ever the same so it really does depend on when I move on to the next activity of the day but usually I complete around 3 to 4 in a day. This keeps me busy and always being able to do something new or practicing. The content creator apprenticeship involves many tools I use to learn better including Mailchimp, Canva, Instagram, WordPress and many more, majority of them I am usually always able to use in just one day and guided through them if I need it to be by the supportive team around me.
17:30 – As the day at the office ends, my line manager may ask for me to send any responsibilities that I had completed throughout the day so I can receive feedback on it. This gives me a higher chance of being as successful as I can throughout my apprenticeship ensuring I can learn as much as possible. To finish the day, I begin packing up my belongings and getting ready to leave for the day before saying goodbye to everyone as they leave too.
I hope this has given you a small insight to my day as a content creator apprentice and is inviting to the welcoming office environment here at NowSkills. I know, a day as a Content Creator Apprentice can be busy, but that’s the best way to be! I already feel I’m able to go far with my apprenticeship and be supported the whole way. I am incredibly grateful I received this opportunity as someone who was unsure where to start with a digital marketing apprenticeship just a handful of months ago. If you are in the position I was, straight out of college or even school but confused where to start with an apprenticeship for you, NowSkills can help you with that! Just as they did for me.
