What is the Prevent Duty

What is the Prevent Duty

The Prevent duty is a legal responsibility under the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015. It requires certain organisations, including training providers like NowSkills, to have due regard for preventing individuals from being drawn into terrorism. This includes tackling risks related to radicalisation, extremism, and broader counter-terrorism threats.

At NowSkills, we take this duty seriously. One of our key priorities is ensuring that all staff understand their role in safeguarding apprentices from radicalisation. We’ve put robust internal procedures in place and provide ongoing training to our team, reinforcing our commitment to creating a safe, inclusive learning environment where every apprentice can thrive.

At NowSkills and as a training provider, we:

  • Train and support our staff to identify learners who may be vulnerable
  • Train our staff to understand what steps should be taken once a risk has been identified
  • As part of our safeguarding duties, NowSkills protects Apprentices from the risk of radicalisation from within NowSkills or outside influences.
  • Create awareness of the Counter-Terrorism and Security within our training and within premises
  • Following our safeguarding policy, staff will be alert to any changes in learner’s behaviour which could show signs that they may be in need of help or protection.
