Register with the Digital Apprenticeship Service

What is the Digital Apprenticeship Service?

The Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS) is an online platform provided by the Department for Education (DfE). It enables employers to manage their apprenticeship account, including adding new apprentices, tracking existing learners, reserving funding, approving payments to training providers, and claiming government incentives.

All employers must have a DAS account in place to employ apprentices and access apprenticeship funding.

All employers must register to access apprenticeship funding

Even if your organisation does not pay the Apprenticeship Levy, you are still required to set up a Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS) account. This account allows you to reserve government funding, approve training costs, and manage apprentice details. It’s also essential for accessing levy transfers from larger employers and for claiming any available incentives. The DAS platform is provided by the Department for Education (DfE) and is mandatory for all employers who wish to deliver apprenticeships.

How to set up your DAS account

Important: You will need your employer Government Gateway login details or PAYE reference details to complete set up.

Step 1 > To simplify the registration process, NowSkills can send you a tailored invitation link to speed up the process. Please request a registration link from your NowSkills point of contact or send an email to our DAS support team das.support@nowskills.co.uk

Step 2 > Non levy employers must reserve apprenticeship funding in their DAS account to add an apprentice.

Employers can grant NowSkills access to manage funding reservations from within their DAS account if they wish to do so.

Step 1: Registering Your DAS Account

To begin, you’ll need your GOV.UK One Login linked to your work email. If you don’t have one, you’ll create it during registration. You’ll also need either:

  • Your Government Gateway login details for your PAYE scheme, or
  • Your Accounts Office Reference Number (AORN) and Employer PAYE Scheme Reference Number

To simplify the process, NowSkills can send you a tailored invitation link. Request this from your NowSkills point of contact or email our DAS support team at das.support@nowskills.co.uk.

Step 2: Reserving Apprenticeship Funding

If you’re a non-levy paying employer, you must reserve government funding in your DAS account before adding an apprentice. This ensures that funding is available from the moment the apprenticeship begins. You can reserve funding up to 3 months in advance, or backdate by one calendar month if needed.

You may also grant NowSkills permission to manage reservations on your behalf within your DAS account.

Here’s a refreshed and up-to-date version of your guidance for adding NowSkills learners to the Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS) account:
